History Oak Run was formally known as "Rock Bottom," and constructed in 1971.
Oak Run Community The community is developed around Spoon Lake, which is a 580 acre body of water, and the largest man-made body of water in Central Illinois.
Attractions and Entertainment This scenic community offers a variety of year-round recreational opportunities for people of all ages and interests to enjoy. Two marinas make boating and swimming access easy. Fishing is available along the 19 mile shoreline and offers and abundance of bass, catfish and bluegill. Oak Run is also home to an 18-hole public golf course and several parks. Tennis, basketball, and pickleball are just a few of the activities that residents enjoy. There are also 62 campsites available to rent daily or members may lease a permanent or semi-permanent spot.
